SAFETY MEASURES FOR ECD CENTRES THAT ARE TO REOPEN AMIDST COVID

It is reported that Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres have been severely impacted by COVID-19, from a social, developmental and financial perspective. Many young children have been removed from these centres by their parents, and will not be returning until 2021, despite the Department of Basic Education’s gazette regulation that earmarked reopening dates for early July 2020. SAFETY FIRST FOR ECD CENTRES

Primary schools are open and Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres are following suit, provided that standard COVID-19 operating safety measures are adhered to.  Considering the strain that this additional cost for PPE will place on ECD centres and schools, Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm has funded the manufacture and distribution of 5 000 COVID-19 masks for learners and staff. WOMEN-OWNED ENTERPRISES SUPPORTED

During this Women’s Month, Kangnas Wind Farm is shining a light on one of its local woman-owned enterprises that has sprung up to make branded protective masks. Octavia Van den Heever, is one of three local community businesses being supported by the wind farm, to produce masks and generate income, within the community. (more…)

LOCAL NOUPOORT NGO IS PLAYING AN IMPORTANT ROLE DURING COVID

A local youth-led NGO, Inclusive Neighbourhood Spaces (INS), is providing an important service to the community of Noupoort during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Their role extends to vulnerable members of the community, from young children to the elderly, making sure that their support is both tangible and meaningful.

REACHING OUT TO WITZENBERG COMMUNITIES THIS MANDELA DAY

Mandela Day 2020 was celebrated amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, serving as a reminder that we all need to work together and contribute to building better and safer communities throughout our country. With this in mind, Perdekraal East Wind Farm has put their support behind the local NPO, Witz Event Network which supports vulnerable households, including those affected by tuberculosis, the elderly and other community members in the Witzenberg Area.
