For us at Kouga Wind Farm, education is one of the primary tools for helping our communities to lift themselves out of poverty. Our involvement ranges across the spectrum – from supporting the professional development of educators like Margaret Mtsele in Early Childhood Development Centres to practical initiatives like eye testing to rule out physical barriers to learning in classrooms. This year, our new basic computer courses received a deluge of interest and, together with our drivers’ education programmes, are giving people skills and certifications with which to seek employment. We have also joined hands with Poverty Stoplight to identify and meet real needs more effectively and will continue to invest in our bursary programme for deserving students. We are proud to be empowering our people. Clear-sighted investment For Mandela Month, Kouga Wind Farm partnered with Baphile Healthcare to offer free eye tests for schoolchildren. More than 200 children from Sandwater and Sea Vista Primary Schools were tested in July and will receive spectacles or further medical consultations if needed.
