Windaba Speaker Announcement: Breakaway 2
Windaba Conference and Exhibition looks to ‘Unleashing renewable power for African economic development’. The conference attracts wind energy and renewable power stakeholders from across the globe at the conference hosted in Cape Town, South Africa annually. The South African economy bears out the possibilities of a vibrant renewable power market and its positive dividends for its economy. South Africa’s latest draft of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) supports up to 17 700 MWs of wind energy in South Africa by the year 2030, 14 400 MWs of which is uncommitted capacity. This equates to approximately one hundred new 140 MW operational wind energy facilities in South Africa between 2022 and 2030. This is unprecedented and indicates a very strong policy commitment to a clean energy future for the country. The host of Windaba, the South African Wind Energy Asssociation (SAWEA) launched its Commitment Statement in 2018. This year, the Windaba conference looks at how these targets can be achieved, ensuring that there is minimal potential impact on the environment and maximum social and economic opportunities. Don’t miss Breakaway 2 as industry leaders, with on-the-ground experience, share their critical insights.
