Rebecca Thomas is a Senior Development Executive at Mainstream Renewable Power, based in the South African office, in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
As a developer, Rebecca is responsible for early identification of potential Renewable Energy projects, and pursuing them through to point of construction, the key aspects being identifying and securing suitable quantities of high potential land and obtaining all necessary permits and approvals for successful implementation of the project. Maintaining environmental and social responsibility and integrity while managing the intricacies of the development process are important values to Rebecca. Renewable Energy is a modern day revolution which Rebecca is proud to be associated with.
Before embarking on her exciting career change into Renewable Energy, Rebecca practised as an Environmental Consultant for over 10 years, largely involved in the energy sector – specifically projects related to Fossil Fuel Energy Generation and Electrical Transmission and Distribution.
Rebecca has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Wits Business School and served as Vice Chair on the Young SSI (now RHDHV) board – aimed at empowering and retaining talented individuals in the workplace. During this time, she also embarked on a 3 month exchange programme to Amersfoort, in the Netherlands, to engage and collaborate with co-workers.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys gently jogging (doesn’t qualify as running quite yet) when not spending ‘quality’ time with her ‘5 going on 16’ year old twin boys, Owen and Finn.
