Windlab East Africa
Mrs. Katherine Persson has spent her career of 15 year’s working on renewable energy project development in Southern and East Africa, and Europe. She has worked as an environmental expert and lender’s adviser, Project Manager, and in recent years as General Manager and currently Managing Director of Windlab’s East African operations where she manages a team of project professionals developing and implementing large renewable energy facilities in Southern and East Africa. Katherine has been intimately involved in the development of the South African wind energy industry since REIPPPP Round 1 and has managed two successful REIPPPP projects, totally 230MW (wind). She has also been involved in Windlab’s participation in numerous renewable energy reverse auctions in Australia and more recently in the first phase of the Tanzanian tender. She has a keen interest in corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and the role of business in society. She is a proud African and a great believer in the broad-scale benefits of renewable energy. She currently serves on the Board of SAWEA (the South African Wind Energy Association) and SARETEC (the South African Renewable Energy Technology Centre) and is a guest lecturer at various universities. Katherine has a BSc (hons) and MSc from the University of Nottingham (UK) and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch.
