Glen Robbins works as a specialist researcher and policy advisor on urban and regional economic development, industrial policy, public sector finance and local government matters more generally. His career has involved senior management roles in metropolitan government in South Africa, specialist advisory roles for a range of South African public sector and international multi-lateral organisations as well as an extended association with academia. Most recently he completed a three year Honorary Research Fellowship at the School of Built Environment and Development Studies, University of KwaZulu-Natal. At present he is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Urban Futures Centre, Durban University of Technology, and a Research Associate at PRISM, University of Cape Town. He serves on the boards of a number of organisations and has recently completed a term on the Statistics Council of Statistics South Africa. He has published articles in academic journals and chapters in a variety of books on matters of economic development, industrial policy and urban development.
