I hold a Bcom (Honours) in Economics from the University of Pretoria with more than 10 years’ experience in regulatory and policy matters in the financial and banking industry; telecommunications and energy sectors. I have held positions as Senior Economist at the National Treasury; Economic and Financial Analyst at the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA); and Senior Analyst in the Electricity Pricing and Tariffs Department at National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA). In October 2010, I was a founding member of IMPETUS Regulatory Consultants. As an independent consultant, I have been involved in a project for the development of the inaugural Strategic Plan for the Swaziland Energy Regulatory Authority. I was involved in the development of a tool for the review of the strategic plan and setting up the structure to enable management to track and plot progress of future strategic plans. In my capacity as Regulatory Consultant, I have performed the following functions: analysis of the electricity industry; identifying Projects relevant for the Regulator; benchmarking the Regulator against internationally best practice; and provided advice on regulatory strategy and approach. I have presented courses in economic regulation, tariff design, and cost-reflective tariffs to the Regional Electricity Regulators Association of Southern Africa Training for Regulatory Practitioners and Board Members of energy and electricity Regulatory Authorities. Currently, I hold the position of Head of Regulatory Affairs at a global renewable energy company based in Johannesburg. I serve as a Member of the Management Board of the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) and member of the Governance Board of South Africa Wind Energy Association (SAWEA). I have previously served as Chairperson of the Policy & Markets Working Group of SAWEA.
