A HELPING HAND FOR LOCAL LEARNERS

Dignity packs for 800 learners have been funded by Kangnas Wind Farm and distributed, via the Department of Social Development. The focus of this programme was to provide support to vulnerable Grade 7 and Grade 12 learners from Namaqualand High, Springbok Primary, Concordia High, Concordia Primary, SA Van Wyk High, Okiep High, Okiep Primary, Nababeep High, Sacred Heart Primary, St Cyprians Primary, St Anna Private High School and Matjieskloof Intermediary School.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, schools have closed, creating hardship and stress for many children, so we hope that these dignity packs will ease their burden,” stated Cheryl Persensie, Economic Development Manager at Kangnas Wind Farm.
The packs were equally divided between genders, with girls receiving sanitary wear, as well as other personal hygiene products.
“The vast majority of the learners who attend our school come from very poor households, which is why the “dignity packs” are so well received,” commented Mr. H. B Van Wyk,  School Principle at SA Van Wyk High School.
